The Central Library was overjoyed to welcome the public back into the building on Monday, May 1, after a two week closure. On Friday, April 14, one of the substations that supplies power to the library caught fire and caused a major power outage. Library staff and patrons are grateful for the Public Works Department’s diligent work repairing the substation to get the library back up and running.

Within the first hour of the reopening, over 350 people came through the door, expressing appreciation for being able to access the Central Library again. Other branch libraries provided extended services during the closure. Books and other materials were routed to different locations so the public would still have access to their items.
