Before the ribbon was cut, kids started streaming to the playground equipment.  Kids of all ages loved the revamped playground space in Central Park West. Zip lines, rope bridges and climbing equipment kept the big kids busy, while little ones enjoyed the swings and tot-sized play space.

Coming in on time and under budget, the new playground may look a little intimidating at first, but it is all a part of a plan to challenge kids. According to Community and Library Services Director, Chris Slama, studies show that risk-based play engages kids on a mental, creative and physical development level. As an added precaution, the surrounding area has a spongy surface that helps prevent injury while kids are climbing on the new equipment.

Designed for kids of all ages, there is a 70-foot zip line and 25-foot climbing tower for the older kids.  And a tot lot for the toddlers.  Families can access the playground from the parking lot near Lake Huntington and Kathy May’s Lakeside Café off of Central Park Drive.
