What was your favorite childhood book growing up? Did you ever read the same book night after night before you went to bed? Rediscover your inner kid and visit the Huntington Beach Art Center to check out the summer exhibition, Childhood Classics: 100 Years of Children’s Book Illustration from the Art Kandy Collection from July 9 – August 20, 2022.
The exhibition and associated free public events are made possible by generous sponsorship from community leader Janet Johnson, The Huntington Beach Art Center Foundation, and Friends of the Huntington Beach Public Library (FOTL). With over 140 original works included from over 75 books, CHILDHOOD CLASSICS is presented in partnership with the Huntington Beach Public Library.
The exhibition is one of the most extensive presentations on the subject of children’s book illustration ever organized. The show explores the history of children’s books from the turn of the century pen and ink Mother Goose art of Sarah Noble Ives, to the most popular works of today, including the digital creations of Mo Willems.
Operated in private/public partnership with The City of Huntington Beach, The Huntington Beach Art Center is located at 538 Main Street in Huntington Beach. For the most up to date information, visit www.huntingtonbeachartcenter.org or call 714-374-1650.
