You don’t need expensive clubs, pricey green fees, or Titleist Pro V1 golf balls to play this golf game. You just need a flying disc, a couple bucks in your pocket, and a sense of adventure!
Orange County’s only disc golf course is one of the hidden gems at Central Park. The goal of Disc Golf is to get a flying disc into a mesh chain basket located on poles throughout the park. Like regular golf, the lowest score wins, so you want to hit your target in as few of throws as possible.
Established in 1977, the expansive 18-target course covers 15 acres and walking the course can be good exercise. The course is beginner-friendly but has challenging “holes” that make a return trip a must. Every hole is a par 3 with most holes ranging from 300-400 feet in length.
Unlike the green fees on most actual golf courses, disc golf is affordable for all, and for kids 15 and younger it’s free. The course is open to the public seven days a week. Lessons, rentals, and event reservations are available.
