The OCCGS presents Sara Cochran, owner of “The Skeleton Whisperer”
The Orange County California Genealogical Society is proud to welcome genealogist Sara Cochran for the next “General Membership Meeting”, to take place on the lower level C-D room at the Central Library and virtually via Zoom. This hybrid “Live in person / Webinar” will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022 when the library opens at 9:00 am, and the meeting room will open for seating at 9:30 am. Sarah is the creator of “The Skeleton Whisperer”, a website that helps people find their ancestors and learn their stories through online courses, events, and consulting services. She first became interested in her family’s genealogy when she saw a photo album belonging to her grandmother filled with “marvelous looking people.” Since then, photos have remained key in Sarah’s love of family history. Today’s event will feature two discussion topics where she will provide some insight into the history of the photograph and provide strategies for organizing your own photo collections so that both current and future generations can enjoy them. At 10:10 am, learn about the importance of revisiting old records to find new clues, followed by a demonstration of how to track down valuable resources without leaving home at 11:15 am. Seating will be limited at the library, so please make sure to register prior to attending either virtually or in person. Register for the Zoom meeting at OCCGS-08-06-Cochran. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
