Reluctant Readers can get a confidence boost at the Central Library!
Children of all ages who need a little encouragement while learning to read are in for a real treat when they come to the next “Paws to Read – Read to a Dog” event coming up on the second Saturday of the month – August 13 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in the Talbert Room. Snuggle up to a sweet, loving therapy dog who is here to provide the best type of support one could ask for! Bring the whole family and let your kids practice their reading skills out loud by reading to these adorable pups. You can bring your own favorite book, or pick from the books provided – no matter what, your dog will just love being read to during your 15 minute time slot. This special opportunity is available on a first come, first serve basis.
The four legged friends provided in this program are part of “Go Team Therapy Dogs.” This is a nonprofit organization with hundreds of volunteer therapy dogs all over the country and overseas. Every dog in the program wears his own red vest and has gone through rigorous training and passed a Good Canine Citizenship test. We at the library and our furry companions look forward to seeing you soon with your favorite book!
