On February 19, 2022, Huntington Beach Pilot/Officer Nick Vella was killed when HB-1 crashed during a call for service in Newport Beach.  In a combined effort, the City of Newport Beach and the City of Huntington Beach are installing a memorial plaque on the sea wall at Marina Park (Newport Beach).

On February 19, 2023 at 10am, there will be a ceremony and the memorial will be unveiled.  All are invited to attend and this will be another great way to honor Nick and his family.

Parking for marked police vehicles will be along the north curb of W. Balboa Blvd, between 15^th St. and 18^th St.  Parking for other guests will be in the west lot of Marina Park.  You will not need to pay for parking.  See attached flier and parking map for more details.

Following the ceremony food and drinks will be provided inside the Marina Community Center.
