The City of Huntington Beach will be participating in the Wyland Foundation’s inaugural Streams of Hope Public Art campaign. The Streams of Hope campaign aims to raise awareness about pollution prevention in our waterways and promotes good water stewardship through education, access to local resources, andhands-on community activities. Streams of Hope is created in partnership with the Wyland Foundation,Municipal Water District of Orange County, OC Conservation Corps, and the County of Orange.
The campaign connects local artists and art groups with world-renowned marine life artist Wyland on a series of “Stella, the Baby Gray Whale” statuettes to be displayed throughout Orange County. The City of Huntington Beach with display a total for four statuettes – one whale statuette at Pacific City and three statuettes along the Pier. Information about each artist and the vision that inspired their design can be found on the statuette and on the campaign website.
As part of the campaign, Orange County residents and visitors can participate in multiple storm channel and beach cleanup events by visiting the Streams of Hope website at www.mystreamsofhope.com.
