In collaboration with Angel Force USA, the City of Huntington Beach will be co-hosting an event taking place this Sunday, June 11 at 11am in Pier Plaza to raise awareness about Veteran suicide. According to Angel Force USA, a non-profit that works to raise awareness about suicide and stop sui-silence, suicide is currently the number one cause of death in the military, killing an average of one vet per hour.

The event will kick off with an 11am ceremony to “welcome home” Vietnam Vets on the 50^th Anniversary and honoring women Veterans. The Ceremony’s guest of honor will be Emily Sanford, a Huntington Beach resident and Navy Veteran. Born in 1935, Emily served 27 years in the Navy and overcame many challenges and obstacles serving as a black woman.

Following the 11am ceremony, we will be having a concert at 12pm where Grammy-award winning artists such as Frank Simes, Dick Bright, Steve Distanislao, and others who are known from working with bands/acts such as Crosby Stills Nash, Doobie Brothers, Tony Bennet, Etta James, and more will take the stage.
