Join the Huntington Beach Fire Department (HBFD) for free family fun! In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, the HBFD will hold its annual Open House on Saturday, October 15 at Gothard Fire Station 1, located at 18311 Gothard Street from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Exciting firefighting demonstrations will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and will include vehicle extrication and live fire scenarios. Other highlights include:

  • Interactive activities for kids
  • Pictures with Sparky
  • Meet and Greets with local firefighters
  • Tour of the fire station
  • Fire safety tips
  • A look at Fire and Marine Safety apparatus
  • Hands-Only CPR education
  • Information about Fire and Marine Safety careers
  • Free hot dogs grilled by the Huntington Beach Firefighters’ Association

“Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape” is the theme for this year’s National Fire Prevention Week. The campaign focuses on the importance of developing and practicing a home escape plan. Open House attendees will have the opportunity to learn about simple actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires. PARKING: Free shuttles (ADA compliant) will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. between the event and City Hall (2000 Main St. at Yorktown Ave). Attendees can also park on the north side of Ellis Ave. between Goldenwest St. and GothardSt., and in allowable parking spots in the area near the event. Parking will not be available on the event site, but a drop-off zone will be provided at the event entrance.
