The City of Huntington Beach invites everyone to attend a free Active Living Expo at the Senior Center in Central Park (18041 Goldenwest Street) on Saturday, September 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The annual Expo is intended to encourage residents to find new ways to explore aging and discover resources available through the City and partners.
More than a thousand people attended last year’s Active Living Expo, which featured over 80 vendors, including City services, social activities, health partners, home health care, real estate, Medicare, insurance, financial resources, and equipment that can help with daily living. The event will also include free entertainment and food for purchase from Baby’s Burgers, as well as shaved ice and snacks.
The title sponsor for this year’s Expo is Hoag Hospital, one of the Center’s major stakeholders. Other sponsors include MemorialCare Physicians Group, Greater Newport Physicians, SCAN Health Plan, Optum/Anthem Blue Cross, and Bennett Acupuncture Inc.Returning sponsors include Doctor Peggy Inc., the Huntington Beach Assistance League, DreamCatchers, Syrentis Clinical Research, Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestra, and the Center’s personal training contractors, Always in Motion.
Proceeds from the Expo go to support the many programs and services offered through Senior Services including care management, senior transportation, and home delivered meals. Funds also allow the Huntington Beach Council on Aging (HBCOA) to host its annual concerts and dances, both highly popular in the community. The event is possible thanks to the strong partnership between the City of Huntington Beach, the HBCOA, and Hoag Hospital.
