As part of Women’s History Month, the City of Huntington Beach is featuring a handful of their many great staff members who are women. Sunny Han is one of those exceptional women who is not only a Certified Public Accountant but also a Certified Fraud Examiner. Before joining the financial team in Huntington Beach, Han worked for a CPA firm that specialized in auditing cities, counties, and special districts to ensure taxpayer dollars were being spent in a transparent manner and met all legal requirements for a public agency.
Now that she works for the City of Huntington Beach as its Acting Chief Financial Officer, Han is more committed than ever to ensure the City’s budget is balanced and that the taxpayers are receiving value for the services, programs, and projects the City provides.
“I’m passionate about making HB a better place to live and try my best to make a difference in the community by performing well at my job,” said Han. “I believe in the ripple effect philosophy, so I hope my small contributions and work ideas can positively impact the OneHB family.”
Sunny lives up to her name and keeps a positive disposition about her work and believes that with the right tools and right mindset, she can achieve any fiscal goal with which she is presented.
“Change is complicated and can be uncomfortable, but improvement cannot be achieved by standing still,” said Han. At work, Han’s two favorite things are helping others improve and learning new things. Away from work, Han loves gardening and hiking with her border collie.
