HB Celebrates Parks Make Life Better Month

It’s no secret that parks, open spaces, and recreation programming provide multiple benefits for residents and visitors alike. These benefits include the overall enhancement of a person’s physical and psychological health, strengthening local communities, and making our cities and neighborhoods desirable places to live and work. Huntington Beach is proud to offer a wide array of recreation programs and services to provide our residents and visitors with a myriad of ways to enjoy our parks and public spaces.

Every July, community services and recreation departments from across California celebrate Parks Make Life Better Month, a month-long celebration of our State’s recreation programs, services, and open spaces. This year, our Huntington Beach residents, visitors, and staff have jumped in on the celebration and #AdventureHB. For the entire month of July, we’ve been hosting an array of family-friendly activities encouraging everyone to make use of our many public spaces. Thankfully, Huntington Beach has a lot of open park and beach space that make for great settings for these celebrations, and we have multiple activities to act as the setting for our celebrations. Here are some of the activities we’ve been enjoying:

  • Chalk hopscotch courses at City parks
  • Movies in the Park (July 29 and August 5)
  • Story Time Swim
  • Childhood Classics: 100 Years of Children’s Book Illustrations Exhibition at the Art Center (July 9 – August 20)
  • Concerts at the Senior Center in Central Park
  • And more!

The adventure doesn’t stop there. We invite our Huntington Beach community to share their park adventures on social media using #adventureHB and tagging @hbcommunityservices so we can adventure together!
