All your favorite activities, classes, and events are at your fingertips with the City’s new registration website.

The City of Huntington Beach is implementing a new registration website this spring! The City is bringing some much-needed improvements to hbsands.org and the overall registration experience for recreation classes. The new registration website will bring enhanced features, including:

  • Expanded search functionality to let you filter activities by location, date, age, interest, and availability,
  • A mobile-friendly design,
  • An easier checkout process for online payments,
  • Online waiver signing and invoicing,
  • Social media sharing,
  • Speedy checkout, and
  • An overall more user-friendly registration experience.

This migration will take place just in time for spring activity and summer camp registration.

In order for the City to prepare for the migration, hbsands.org will be temporarily unavailable for online or in-person use beginning Friday, February 17, at 5pm, through Wednesday, February 22, at 8am. During this time, users will be unable to register for activities online, and City staff will not be able to process transactions or refunds. This includes activity registration, facility rentals, permits, etc. We strongly recommend that users register for any eligible* activities before Friday, February 17, to ensure a smooth transition.

Beginning Wednesday, February 22, registrants will be able to visit the new hbsands.org website. While registration for spring classes does not begin until Tuesday, March 7, users will be able to create their household accounts in preparation for registration day. Everyone (exceptions listed below) will need to create a new account on the new website and must use an active email address. Users may also sign in through their social media account, if they choose.

While most users will need to create a new account, the following select accounts will be transferred into the new website:

  • Persons with active memberships to the Hoag Wellness Pavilion,
  • Persons with active memberships to the Huntington Beach Art Center, or
  • Those who were enrolled in the Junior Lifeguard program in 2022.

If your account is migrated over to the new hbsands.org website, you will receive an email on how to set up your account. The account will be created using the email on file currently with hbsands.org.

Beginning Wednesday, February 22, at 8am:

  • Public users will be able to create their accounts online, and
  • Members of the Wellness Pavilion will be able to check in to and purchase/renew memberships to the fitness center.

Need Assistance? The City will also be offering open office hours to customers who need assistance creating an account. The Computer Lab at the Senior Center in Central Park will be available with trained staff and volunteers to assist residents with account creation and questions on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, February 27–Thursday, March 2, from 8am–7pm
  • Friday, March 3, from 8am–4pm

Beginning Tuesday, March 7, at 8am:

  • Registration for all activities will begin.
