The City of Huntington Beach topped last year’s outstanding performance in WalletHub’s 2022 ranking of 180 “Best Cities for People with Disabilities” – ranking 5th on the list. Last year, Huntington Beach ranked 8th on the list, moving up 3 spots over the last year. The next closest California city on the list was San Francisco, coming in at #12. The next Orange County city was Irvine ranking #36.
To determine the “Best,” WalletHub compared 180 of the largest U.S. cities based on their economy, quality of life, and health care. For each city, WalletHub constructed a score — comprising 34 relevant metrics – and each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for people with disabilities per the city’s total per-capita budget. We are pleased to announce Huntington Beach scored #44 in Economy, #20 in Quality of Life, and #33 in Health Care.
The City of Huntington Beach has not only made the list every year since 2014, but has also improved in rankings every year. Accessibility has been a priority for the City and recently added more Mobi-Mats to the City’s beaches and parks to improve access and usability. In addition, Surf City offers many services through the Senior Center in Central Park.
