The Community & Library Services (CLS) Department offers a myriad of programs and community events for all ages and abilities. The Department currently offers City-staff led programs and events, which includes swim lessons, youth sports leagues, summer camps, and community events (Boutonnieres & Bows, Breakfast With Santa, etc.). CLS also partners with independent contractors who offer additional specialized recreation programming, such as, yoga, arts and crafts, dance, and surfing.
While we are pleased with our robust recreation program and event offerings through the SANDS Recreation, Community & Library Services Guide, and on hbsands.org, we are always looking to enhance the quality of our programs and services. To ensure our programming meets the growing and changing needs of our community, we are conducting a Programs Quality & Needs Assessment to solicit community input that will help us determine the future of our recreation programming and community events. Using the feedback from this survey, we will be able to:
- Determine the strengths in our recreation programming, activities, and events, and identify what our community enjoys/desires;
- Determine the opportunities to refine and enhance our recreation programming, activities, and events based on growing community interest;
- Learn how the community learns about programs and activities offered through the SANDS; and,
- Gauge how our community spaces are being utilized and how to better program our spaces to meet the community’s needs.
Community feedback is an integral part of program development as we strive to enhance the quality of life for our residents and visitors. We invite all Huntington Beach residents to take the time to provide their input and help the City meet the needs of our diverse community. The survey will be live through Friday, September 30, 2022, and can be accessed using the link below. We appreciate your input and look forward to taking our parks and recreation programming to the next level!
