Huntington Beach Welcomes Park Rangers & City Patrol Services

The City of Huntington Beach has contracted with Lyons Security to provide a dedicated Huntington Central Park park ranger in addition to Citywide patrol of parks, libraries, and recreation facilities. Lyons Security will work to supplement the work already being performed by the Community & Library Services Department, Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD), and the Homeless Task Force (HTF).

Both services will maintain high visibility to provide first class customer service, deter illegal activity and nuisances, and will assist as witnesses to incidents. They will follow the City’s philosophy to address public nuisances promptly and diplomatically through an education first approach and will not be armed with any type of weapon. The Huntington Central Park park ranger will wear a unique uniform that is visibly different and patrol Central Park in a marked Lyons/park ranger vehicle, on a bicycle, and on foot.

Citywide patrol and park ranger services will be independent of each other and begin the week of April 4, 2022. Both services will be provided seven days a week. The daily scheduled will vary to ensure their availability when open spaces and facilities are being used the most. Please join us in welcoming Lyons Security as they continue to enhance the quality of life in Huntington Beach!
