Can you believe it’s already August 2022? Summer is coming to a close and the weeks are quickly passing us by. Although the new school year is just around the corner, there is still a lot more fun to be had in HB over these next few weeks.

Vans US Open of Surfing heats up this weekend with the finals! Come check out all the action on the south side of the pier and watch the best surfers in the world compete for the championship. Riding on the heels of the US Open is the International Surfing Association World Surfing Games! Save the dates for September 17-24 as the world’s top young surfers compete in HB to qualify for the 2024 Olympic games in Paris.

The new and improved Bluff Top Park and Trail officially reopens on Monday, August 8. Be sure to check out the vast improvements from the new wooden railing, to better pathways, and beautiful landscaping. The project not only improves multi-modal transportation in our City, but also makes our Pacific Ocean and coastline shine even brighter!

Last year, the City hosted its first CommUNITY picnic and I’m thrilled to say we are bringing it back August 20! Bring the family to Central Park for an afternoon of cultural entertainment, crafts and games for the kids, and more! The free CommUNITY Picnic starts at 11am behind the Central Park Library near the bandstand area.

September looks to be even busier than August. Be sure to check in on the latest news at Surf City Break.
