Like many of you, I am still reveling at how outstanding our 118th Annual 4th of July Parade and Festival was! One of the many things I love about our community is our unwavering patriotism. I’d like to thank the City’s 4th of July Committee for all their hard work in organizing another wonderful family-friendly event. I also want to congratulate the many military groups, bands, and community organizations that took part in the day.

Summer is just getting started, and we are thrilled to have Vans back as the title sponsor for the US Open of Surfing! The world’s largest action sports festival returns to the southside of the Huntington Beach Pier from July 30 through August 7. The nine-day action sports festival, includes surf, skateboarding, and BMX competition, as well as a full calendar of creative activities for the entire family to enjoy. The event is free and open to the public from 7:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., every day. Fans can find more details and the full schedule of events at VansUSOpenofSurfing.com.  During the US Open, a new group of surfing honorees will be inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame on Thursday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. by Jack’s, and the Surfers’ Hall of Fame at HSS on Friday, August 5 at 9:00 a.m.

Looking ahead to September, it’s jam packed with events from the Annual Blessing of the Waves on September 11, to the International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games September 17-24, and the three-day Pacific Airshow starting September 30. Surf City is the place to be this summer!

I look forward to seeing you at the beach!
