OC Housing Authority to Open Section 8 Wait List

The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) will open its Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher) program waiting list at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18. Applications will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on Friday September 29. The Section 8 program provides rental assistance to eligible individuals and families by paying a portion of their rent directly to private landlords.

Applications can be submitted at any time during the two-week application period in three ways:

  • Online at https://www.waitlistcheck.com/CA1288
  • Mail paper application to P.O. Box 11387, Santa Ana, CA 92711. Must be postmarked from September 18 to September 29. (Paper applications will be available at City Hall and the Senior Center in Central Park.)
  • Email paper application to [email protected]

At the end of the application period, OCHA will use a lottery to select up to 12,000 applicants for placement on the Section 8 waiting list. If more than 12,000 applications are received, preference will be given to those living or working in Orange County. Additional preferences will be given to applicants in the following order: 1) U.S. Veterans; 2) elderly individuals; and 3) disabled individuals.

Individuals with disabilities that require assistance may contact OCHA at 714-480-2798. For more information on how to apply, please visit www.ochousing.org or call OCHA at 714-480-2798.
