OC Public Works is reconstructing the bridge structures at three locations in Huntington Beach to support the flood control operations of the East Garden Grove-Wintersburg Channel. These bridge modifications will supplement recently-completed improvements along the flood control channel located between Warner Avenue and Goldenwest Street, designed to enhance flood protection for the surrounding community. This project is estimated to be complete in January 2025.
Please anticipate the following intermittent lane closures beginning in mid-September to accommodate construction activity:
- Warner Avenue – 700 feet west of Springdale Street (Beginning September 21, 2023)
- Edwards Street – 500 feet north of Warner Avenue (Beginning September 21, 2023)
- Springdale Street – 500 feet north of Warner Avenue (Beginning early 2024)
Due to the close proximity of construction activities and related lane closures along Edwards Street, the east end of Shields Driver at Edwards Street will be closed for an extended period — there will be no vehicle access from/to Shields Drive at Edwards Street. Pedestrian access will remain open.
