Walmart Recognized by HB City Council for Donation to the HBFD

At the September 20 City Council meeting, the City Council recognized Huntington Beach Walmart Store 5601 for its continued support of the Huntington Beach Fire Department.  This store recently donated $3,000 for the purchase of essential equipment for the Department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team.

Mayor Delgleize presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Suehaine Ramos and Traci Allen, who represented Walmart Store 5601.  The Hazardous Materials Response Team was also present and Fire Chief Scott Haberle complimented Fire Department team members for their recent success in obtaining grant funding to be better equipped to respond to emergencies.

Chief Haberle also pointed out that the Hazardous Materials Team recently obtained State of California Office of Emergency Services Type 1 Certification.  This designation allows the team to provide comprehensive emergency response to environmental emergencies, including oil spills, the release of toxic materials, weapons of mass destruction incidents, and other emergency services.
