Many mobile home residents who are elderly and suffering financial hardships may qualify for the City’s new mobile home tenant-based rental assistance program. The initial program will be limited to just 30 households, which will be selected through a lottery process. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- 62 years or older
- “Very Low Income” or lower (maximum income for a couple, for example, would be $54,200 annually)
- Own a mobile home in Huntington Beach
- Occupy mobile home as primary resident for at least one year
Selected applicants must pay a minimum of 30% of their gross monthly income for rental space, while the City will subsidize the difference. Rental assistance through this program is available for a maximum of 24 months.
The city will grant preferences to applicants who:
- Are military veterans
- Have an income level that is “Extremely Low Income” or lower (“Extremely Low Income” for a couple, for example, would be a maximum of $32,550)
- Pay more than 50% of gross income toward space rent
This Program has an application process that is open from January 16, 2023 to February 17, 2023. You can find the application online here or you can pick up a printed version of the application at the HB Senior Center in Central Park. In person assistance with the application process is also available at the Senior Center, but please check the website for the hours of availability.
