May is National Bike month and to celebrate, the City of Huntington Beach will be hosting numerous community events to show off the City’s recent bicycles infrastructure and safety improvements.

On Saturday, May 14, the City invites you to join your community for a ride along the Delaware protected bike lanes. The ride begins at City Hall at 10:00 a.m. Experience this new bike infrastructure enhancement that prioritizes the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians by creating separation from vehicles.

In mid-June, the City will hold another ribbon cutting and community bike ride to celebrate the Bluff Top Path improvements.  Following a short ceremony, there will be a community ride with a beautiful ocean view along the widened bike trail. Event details will be provided on the City’s social media channels.

Huntington Beach is committed to supporting National Bike Month.  The City adopted its first Bike Master Plan in 2013 and has been improving bike lanes on its city streets ever since.  This fall, the city will start construction on its first “Bike Boulevard” on Utica Avenue, where the city will create a safer and more accessible bike path along the street while adding enhanced controls at key intersections.

To keep the momentum going on the City’s many bicycle improvements, the City is asking for the community’s input on bicycle infrastructure. City staff are asking residents to weigh in on what bicycle programming and enhancements are important to them.
