Great news, HB! After hearing from the local community about alternative ways to dispose of your Christmas tree, the City of Huntington Beach, along with Republic Services, will offer multiple locations to drop off you Christmas tree. In an effort to accommodate the many different celebrations taking place during this holiday season, curbside tree pick up will take place for one week only – January 8 through 12. See the schedule with dates/times to drop off your tree at the following FREE locations:

Free Drop-Off Locations and Schedule:

Republic Services, 17121 Nichols Lane, Gate 7 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Friday and Saturday ONLY: 12/29, 12/30, & 1/5, 1/6

Public Works City Yard, 17371 Gothard Street from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

• Monday through Friday, 12/27 through 1/12 (closed Jan. 1 & 2 for New Year’s holidays)

Edison Community Center – South Parking Lot, 21379 Magnolia St. from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Monday, 1/8 and Thursday, 1/11

Murdy Community Center Parking Lot, 7000 Norma Dr. from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Tuesday, 1/9, Wednesday, 1/10 & Friday, 1/12

Residential customers curbside tree collection will take place January 8 through 12, 2024 on the same day as your trash/recycling collection. Please note:

• Tree must be set out next to residential containers before 7 a.m. on collection day (separate collection team picking up trees)
• Do not place on top or in front of carts
• Remove all lights, tinsel, garland, decorations, and stand
• NO flocked or artificial trees. To dispose, carefully cut those trees into smaller pieces for your trash cart or call for a bulk item pickup.  

Multi-unit customers (apartment/condo) with a shared dumpster, trees will also be collected from January 8 through 12, 2024 (only complexes with 20 or fewer units). Please note:

• Place trees next to dumpster – not in front or on top. Check with property manager or HOA for other restrictions prior to leaving tree.
• If unable to place next to dumpster, please use free drop-off location or call Republic Services at 714-847-3581 for a bulky item pickup ($32 fee).
• Residents in large complexes of 20 or more units must either use the free drop-off or call Republic Services at 714-847-3581 to schedule a bulky pickup ($32)

Other tree recycling tips/options for residents:

• Carefully cut up tree and place in green cart
• Call Republic and schedule a bulky pickup
• Bulky pickup is free to residential customers with cart service
• Condo/apartment with dumpsters pay $32
