Is Construction in Your Neighborhood Permitted?

Are you curious if there are proper permits for a construction project in your neighborhood? You can easily report it online anytime using my MyHB app or the City’s website: Report a Code Enforcement Issue. Once you submit the report, a Code Enforcement Officer for your area will check out the construction and figure out what permits are required from City departments, like an Encroachment Permit from Public Works or various permits from the Building Division (like Combination, Plumbing, Mechanical, or Electrical).

Please keep in mind that some construction work might be exempt from a Building Permit, according to the Huntington Beach Municipal Code 17.04.050. For more details on permit requirements, you can check the General FAQ’s.

If you’re interested in other significant projects in the City, you can explore the Major Projects and Applications in Process and check the interactive map. If you have any questions about the permitting process, please feel free to contact Community Development directly at (714) 536-5271.
