After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach in back! The annual event, which started as the “West Coast Surfing Championship” in 1959, will run for one week from July 30 – August 7. Dubbed “the World’s Largest Action Sports Festival,” the US Open of Surfing will include the best in surfing, skateboarding and BMX competition. With an attendance of nearly a half-million people, these nine days of surfing festivities serve as both a great tourist draw and a boost for the local economy bringing more than $16 million into Huntington Beach over that week.
The event is free to the public. It’s open from 8 am – 4 pm and the surfing competition will occur just south of the pier. Make sure to arrive early to get a parking spot and bring an umbrella for shade. Get more details at www.vansusopenofsurfing.com.
