On Saturday, July 15, seven of our HBFD Explorers graduated from the regional OCFA Explorer Academy. Approximately 45 Explorers from OCFA, Anaheim, Newport Beach, Orange, and Huntington Beach graduated from the week-long, residential academy.

The Explorers experienced life in the fire service, including structure and wildland firefighting, vehicle extrication, ventilation, rappelling and rope rescue, and EMS training. The seven graduates applied for the program and were accepted as the first Explorers from HBFD to attend the regional academy.

The graduates included Carter Tompkins, Cara Nicargi, Kyle Gishi, Christopher Nguyen, Sean Costello, Jack Dupont, and Sebastian Alcaraz. Carter Tompkins was named Outstanding Explorer by the academy. Congratulations to Carter and all of the graduates!
