The Division believes proactive communication with our residents and visitors will only help enhance the quality of life for many coming to enjoy the surf and sand in Surf City.
The Division provides year-round lifeguard services on the city’s beaches which includes rescues, preventative actions, medical aids, and code enforcement services. The HBFD Marine Safety Division manages the summer Junior Lifeguard program and is committed to Community Risk Reduction. Lifeguard services are also provided to Sunset Beach and all the waterways and beaches in Huntington Harbour. The Division is comprised of one Marine Safety Division Chief, three Marine Safety Battalion Chiefs, 13 Marine Safety Captains, four Ocean Lifeguard Specialists and more than 150 recurrent Ocean Lifeguards.
