Congressional Reps Advocate for Quiet Skies over Huntington Beach

Bipartisanship is very much alive when it comes to advocating for a reduction in jet noise over Huntington Beach.

Congressional representatives Michelle Steel (R) and Alan Lowenthal (D) co-authored a letter to the Acting Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration asking for the FAA to meet with local community representatives to discuss various proposals that would mitigate the jet noise that impacts our beach community.

With Huntington Beach sandwiched between John Wayne Airport and Long Beach Airport, residents are often subjected to the noise and emission impacts of low-flying commercial aircraft.

Representatives Steel and Lowenthal have asked the FAA to reconsider meeting with local stakeholders to explore feasible alternatives that will reduce impacts, while maintaining the safety and efficiency of the commercial flights.

Huntington Beach city officials will continue to collaborate with our federal elected officials in an effort to secure a meaningful meeting with the FAA to discuss compromise solutions.
