Memorial Beach Ride
On Saturday, April 8, the Huntington Beach Police Department hosted a Memorial Beach Ride in honor of Officer Nicholas Vella. Over 150 people were in attendance to ride along the sands of Huntington Beach from Tower 19 to Tower 8.
All of the proceeds from the Memorial Beach Ride were donated to the Huntington Beach Police and Community Foundation to assist with the expenses for HBPD officers to travel to Washington, D.C., for the induction of Officer Nicholas Vella into the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Hamilton Ave. Rehabilitation Pavement Update
This week, the street reconstruction on Hamilton Avenue between Newland Street and Magnolia Streets continued. The project includes the process of Full Depth Reclamation, which requires rebuilding the in-place subgrade materials before installing the final asphalt pavement layer. The reclamation of the street base aims to improve the section of street from the projected traffic use for many years to come.
This phase of construction will require the continued closure of through traffic onto Hamilton Avenue from Magnolia Street as well as the limited incoming and outgoing traffic onto Hamilton Avenue from Newland Street until Friday, April 21. The project is expected to be completed in May and will include final pavement, striping, and signage improvements.
